An AR app that unlocks joyous characters when scanning popular Hong Kong features.
With the development of the ‘Ho Jeng AR’ app, Google Hong Kong wanted to encourage people to experience and share joyful moments across the city. By scanning culturally symbolic objects like milk tea, fish balls and neon signs you were able to unlock six charming AR characters.
A project with many moving parts seamlessly executed in this cross-functional collaboration between Animade, Bit Studio and Sennep. I was in charge of directing the animation and defining the unique characteristics of each mascot. This meant shaping the different personalities and mannerisms, and how this would manifest in an interactive context.

Leading the team from concept through to final animation as we built a rich library of emotes and actions, unique to each and every one of them. Mixing endearing, fun and unexpected moments for a truly captivating interactive experience, making you want to scan and poke them until your battery runs out!
